The short version: Rental Log is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not financial or tax advice. You own your data, you control your data, and you are responsible for how you use the information the App helps you organize. Use it honestly and don't try to break it.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using Rental Log ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms apply to the iOS application available on the Apple App Store. Use of the App is also subject to Apple's App Store Terms and Conditions.
2. Description of the App
Rental Log is a personal financial logging tool designed to help individual landlords track rental income, property expenses, and receipt documentation for up to four properties.
The App is strictly a record-keeping aid. It does not provide tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, or accounting services of any kind. All information within the App is for your personal organizational purposes only.
Always consult a qualified tax professional before preparing or filing any tax return. Tax laws vary by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Rental Log. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Your Data
All data you enter into Rental Log — including property details, income entries, expense entries, and receipt photos — belongs to you. The App stores this data locally on your device.
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of information you enter into the App
- Maintaining your own backups of your data
- How you use, share, or act upon any summaries or exports generated by the App
We strongly recommend enabling iCloud backup or periodically exporting your data to avoid loss in the event your device is lost, damaged, or reset.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Rental Log only for its intended purpose as a personal rental income and expense log. You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
- Use the App to store or transmit content that is fraudulent, misleading, or harmful
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent the App's freemium paywall through unauthorized means
6. In-App Purchases
Rental Log offers a one-time purchase to unlock export features (annual PDF and CSV export). This is a single payment with no recurring charges or subscription fees.
All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. All sales are final unless otherwise required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies. We do not offer refunds directly — please contact Apple Support for purchase-related issues.
The free tier of the App — including unlimited entry logging, receipt photos, and monthly summaries — remains free permanently and is not affected by whether you have made a purchase.
7. No Warranties
Rental Log is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Any summaries, totals, or exports will be accurate or suitable for filing with any tax authority
- The App will be available on any particular device or iOS version in perpetuity
You use the App at your own risk. We are not responsible for any errors in data you enter or for any consequences arising from your use of App-generated reports or summaries.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rental Log and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data due to device failure, App deletion, or iOS updates
- Tax penalties, filing errors, or financial loss arising from reliance on App-generated summaries
- Any interruption or cessation of the App's availability
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App's one-time unlock, if any.
9. Intellectual Property
Rental Log, including its name, design, code, and all content within the App, is the property of its developer and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property law.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on your personal Apple devices in accordance with Apple's App Store Terms and these Terms of Service.
10. App Availability and Updates
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App — or any feature within it — at any time without prior notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.
Updates to the App may be released from time to time via the App Store. We recommend keeping the App updated to receive bug fixes and improvements.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the United States.
