The short version: Your financial data — properties, income, expenses, receipts — never leaves your iPhone. We do use PostHog, a third-party analytics tool, to collect anonymous usage data so we can understand how the App is used and improve it. IP addresses are anonymized. We do not collect your name, financial figures, or anything you enter into the App.

1. Overview

Rental Log ("the App") is an iOS application for individual landlords to log rental income, expenses, and receipt photos. This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles any information you enter into it.

By using Rental Log, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Rental Log never collects or transmits any of the financial or personal data you enter into the App. Specifically, we do not collect:

None of the data you log in the App — rent amounts, expenses, property details, receipt photos — is ever sent to any server, including PostHog. Analytics are limited to how you interact with App features, not what you enter into them.

3. Data Storage

All data you enter — property details, income entries, expense entries, and receipt photos — is stored locally on your iPhone using on-device storage.

Receipt photos are saved to the App's local storage. They are not added to your Photos library and are not accessible to other apps without your explicit action.

If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.

4. iCloud Backup

Rental Log supports optional iCloud backup. If you have iCloud backup enabled on your iPhone, the App's data may be included in your device's standard iCloud backup.

Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Exports

The App allows you to export annual summaries as PDF files and log data as CSV files via iOS's share sheet. These exports are initiated by you and sent only to destinations you choose — such as email, AirDrop, or a third-party app.

Rental Log does not retain copies of exports, does not transmit them to any server, and has no visibility into what you do with exported files.

6. In-App Purchases

Rental Log offers a one-time unlock purchase processed exclusively through Apple's StoreKit framework. Rental Log does not receive, store, or have access to any payment card information or billing details.

Apple's handling of payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Push Notifications

Rental Log uses local notifications — scheduled on your device — to remind you of monthly closes and recurring entries. These are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any network request or external server.

You can disable notifications for Rental Log at any time in your iPhone's Settings app.

8. Analytics — PostHog

Rental Log uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics within the iOS app. This helps us understand which features are used, where users encounter friction, and how to improve the App over time.

What PostHog collects:

What PostHog does not collect:

PostHog is configured with IP anonymization enabled. Analytics data is used solely to improve the App and is never sold or shared with advertisers.

PostHog's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy. PostHog is SOC 2 certified and GDPR compliant.

9. Your Privacy Choices

The anonymous analytics collected via PostHog are used solely to improve the App. If you prefer not to contribute usage data, you can contact us at mike@precisionappsllc.com to request opt-out. We will honor all such requests in future app versions as opt-out controls are developed.

Regardless of your analytics preference, none of the financial data you enter into the App is ever transmitted anywhere.

10. Children's Privacy

Rental Log is intended for adults managing rental properties and is not directed at children under 13. The anonymous usage analytics collected via PostHog do not include any personal information and cannot be used to identify any individual, including minors.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
